Digital Content & Web POS

Modified on Thu, 24 Aug 2023 at 11:40 AM

Digital content orders are common in bookstore eCommerce sales, and this will not change when moving to the Mosaic eCommerce Platform. However, there will be changes to the steps in how the orders are processed. In this article we will review the steps to complete a digital content order, while calling out considerations for bookstore Managers.

Digital Content Orders - What's Different

ORDER PROCESS -
Until further notice: All digital content orders that are handled through PrismCore will need to be manually processed in Manager's Web POS Sale. This means that all digital content access information will need to be manually managed and sent to the customer.

JUMPBOOK USERS:
For Bookstores using Prism's Jumpbooks Digital Content API, you will want to contact Prism Customer Support to enable the Jumpbook integration.

Understandably, these changes will introduce a new work-flow for employees processing and managing digital content orders. We are sensitive to how these changes will impact the amount of effort required for every order and are working to reduce those efforts with future feature releases.

Considerations

        PrismWeb Access

Depending on business need, you may want to consider how many employees have the required access to process digital content orders as they come in daily.

Time to Complete

Bookstore Managers may want to consider how expectations will change around the length of time it will take to complete each digital content order. Additionally, historical data and trends may be of benefit when mapping out operational efficiency.

Steps to Complete Digital Content Web Sale

All incoming digital content orders will need to be reviewed and processed in PrismCore by whomever is managing day-to-day order operations. Each individual digital content order that is processed will have a list of associated details, but the following will need to be noted to complete the transaction in PrismWeb.

Customer email address

Order #

ISBN

Process Digital Content Order Via WebManager

Navigate to PrismWeb Manager > Textbooks > Digital Content & select Web POS Sale

Enter in the desired ISBN(s) (International Standard Book Number) in the ‘Titles to Sell’ section and click ’Add to Basket’.

Once the ISBN has been added to the basket, the customer’s receipt number and email address will need to be entered to complete the order in the expanded order section (Web Order # is recommended to be entered for the receipt number, however one may be generated).

Click ‘Submit Sale’ once the fields have been appropriately filled.

A notification will appear once the sale has been successfully submitted that states:

Note the Receipt # & Basket ID for future reference.

What happens if the customer doesn't receive the access information?

Basket Search

Occasionally, it may be required to view previous transaction that occurred on the platform. Perhaps a customer lost their POS receipt, and no longer has their access codes. Using the basket search functionality, it is possible to lookup past order details. Click on the Basket Search link on the right-hand side.

You may search by basket ID, receipt number, ISBN or customer email. You may also specify a

date range. Click the ‘Search for Basket’ button to complete your search.

From here, you can view the search results and click on the ‘Details’ link to drill-down to the transaction and order

Details where you will find the redemption URL to provide to the customer if they didn’t initially receive it.
